FREQUENTLY ASKED
QUESTIONS

Can I work towards a graded exam?

Yes all our teachers regularly work towards ABRSM and Trinity exams. Some also have experience with other exams boards like Rockschool or LCM.

Can I have lessons in my own home?

Yes, most of our teachers can travel to you so you can relax and enjoy your lesson in the comfort of your own home. We also have some teachers who teach from their homes or studios if you prefer to travel to a teacher for your piano lessons.

Do I need a piano?

It is important to have an instrument at home to practice on. If you are just starting out with lessons this could be a small keyboard or an electric piano. As you improve you might want to upgrade to a piano, your teacher will be happy to offer advice on this when you are ready. It is possible to rent a piano if you want to get the feel of a real piano but don’t want to commit to buying one right away.

How long should my lesson be?
Usually we suggest 30 or 45 minutes to begin with, particularly for younger students. Older and more advanced students will usually benefit from the longer lesson length of 60 minutes.
I am an adult who has never played before – can I start to learn?
It is never too late to start learning the piano. We have teachers who specialise in teaching adult beginners.
When is it possible to have lessons?
Our teachers are available throughout the week including weekends, we will find you a teacher available at a time that suits you.
How much experience do your teachers have?
Most of our teachers have a minimum of two years of experience, usually many more! We have teachers who specialise in teaching children, adults, beginners and more advanced students.
Cancellation policy

Almost all of our teachers have a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you can try to stick to your weekly lesson time wherever possible it really helps but they understand that sometimes things come up so as long as you give more than 24 hours notice lessons can be cancelled or rearranged. Lessons cancelled withing 24 hours would be charged for. If you teacher has a different policy we will let you know before lessons start.

How much do my lessons cost?

Our teachers set their own lesson rates so we have a teacher to suit all budgets. On average an hour’s lesson costs around £40-£50. If you have a budget in mind do let us know when you contact us and we will do our best to accomodate.

Do I have to commit to a certain number of lessons?

At the start you will always arrange one lesson with your teacher, the vast majority of our teachers just book sessions weekly with their students so you can cancel your lessons whenever you like.

How do I pay?

You will be sent an invoice after each lesson which you can pay by card or bank transfer. If you would like to you can also save your card to our system so paying for your lessons is always easy and hassle free.
