Hello, my name is Debbie! I am a pianist with Grade 8 distinction and a recent graduate of the University of Bristol with a BA in Music. I started playing the piano when I was six and studied with a focus on Western Classical music and the Suzuki Method under the tutelage of Raymond Clarke, Yukiko Osedo and Esther Reinders.
I encourage students to draw out the musical intentions of the composer or style that they are exploring whether it be classical, pop or worship and more by emphasising musical sensitivity and stylistic nuances. Having taught for two years and serving as a church pianist for ten years, I am confident in interacting with all ages and abilities with patience, understanding, encouragement and a strong sense of responsibility. For students who wish to progress in grades, I aim to equip them with skills that meet the ABRSM or Trinity examination requirements.
Ultimately, I wish to stimulate my students’ love for the piano and music in general by building on their interests and challenging them to explore their musical capabilities.
